We can help.
Have you ever considered enrolling in a carbon market? We have options for you to add a profit on your operation. By working with Windy Ridge Ag LLC as your data manager we will ensure that you have a seamless experience from beginning to end. Below are a few questions to consider before taking the next step.
What is a carbon credit?
The Merriam Webster defines it as a tradable credit granted to a country, company, etc., for reducing emissions of carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases by one metric ton below a specified quota.
Furthermore, carbon credits are used to show the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions (GHG’s) that are released into the atmosphere. This is where you come in. As a farmer you are a great source for companies to look to help them meet their goals, provide statements around carbon reductions, etc. As a farmer by doing no till you are naturally sequestering carbon and helping reduce GHG’s.
How do I qualify?
The most common practices for sequestering carbon are no till, strip till, cover crops, and manure usage or other organic nutrients.
Why do people want to buy carbon credits?
Companies want to buy credits to help meet their internal goals on sustainability or for marketing to the public that they are carbon neutral. Some companies also purchase credits to avoid paying a carbon tax.
What kind of information will you need?
We will need basic information that you have about your farming operation by field. Whether it is your tillage practice, or your yield, we will need it all. This information will continue to be reported on for the duration of the durability contract.
How will my data be shared?
We will only share your data with the company to which you are transacting with. We will not sell or market your data outside of this purpose.
What is the cost for you to be my data manager?
At this time, we will be taking 10% of all transactions to collect and facilitate data. We will not get paid until you do. Data management takes time, so we are here to do this for you and create a seamless process to take all challenges out of it.
